We are only talking to ourselves. We are not talking to the rivers, we are not listening to the wind and stars. We have broken the great conversation.

What should I expect during an Ecotherapy session?

Similar to virtual therapy or therapy in an office, sessions may vary from person to person and session to session. First, I’ll get to know you and what your relationship is like with Nature and Self, and what your hopes are for Ecotherapy. We’ll choose a place in the Golden, CO area to meet. From here, ecotherapy sessions may include the following and more:

  • Mindful walking and wandering in nature

  • Somatic exercises that integrate elements of Earth

  • Nature-based metaphors

  • Integration of IFS “parts” work into nature

  • Using Earth and aspects of Nature as an anchor

What is Ecotherapy?

Ecotherapy expands the therapeutic experience and helps us remember where we find home. Ecotherapy is an experiential and somatic journey in which we intuitively connect with the world around us and listen to Earth’s inner wisdom. We connect with Earth, so we can connect with our true Selves. We won’t just be walking around outside. In our Ecotherapy sessions, I will intentionally integrate the work I do with clients in the room and blend this with nature-based interventions. Ecotherapy is for everyone! You don’t need to be an avid outdoorsperson and it’s never too late to develop a relationship with Nature.

What are the benefits of Ecotherapy?

Ecopsychology is a fairly new area of research in the world of mental health, but our relationship with Nature goes back further than the development of the field of psychology. We are reengaging in the great conversation, and we are remembering a relationship that has existed for a very long time. Some other benefits of Ecotherapy include:

  • Deeper relationship with Nature and with Self

  • Time in nature can reduce stress and aid in nervous system recovery

  • Increased sense of belonging
